Thanks, Heinrich! I'm sharing this information with two mailing lists that I'm on in the hopes of finding more clues about great-great grandfather William Frederick WATERHOLTER. I've only found a few more clues...... He and his younger brother lived in Mrs. Benton's Boarding House in 1850 Washington, D.C. There was another German family by the last name of Selhausen. (Not sure of correct spelling.) Around 1856 or 1857, my great-great grandfather married a Jeannette Tone and my great-grandfather, Frederick William WATERHOLTER was born nine months later.
