After you locate your church, go back to the same entry point and type in a surname you are looking for, and the name of the town (instead of Kirchen & the town name). See how your surnames are distributed vs-a-vs the zip code map of today. Look for clusters in the area you are interested in. Write to the church archives at the "Kirchen" address you found for all records prior to 1871. You can look for a specific church archive at Table of Links, Choose-A-Link, Archives I.
