We have been working on the ancestors of the Chilean Lisperguer family for some years and the earliest Chilean we have traced is Peter Lisperguer, "Conquistador Alem�n celebre." He was born in Worms, Germany in either 1530 or 1535. Records in Chile indicate that he came to Chile in 1557 and died in 1604 in Lima or from another source he died in Panama on the way to Europe and probably was buried in what is now known as Lima, Per�. His parents are supposedly Peter Birling (Birlinguer in Spanish) who was born in Worms in 1503 and was said to be "Probst der Stadt Worms, " and Catharina Lisperg; they were probably married there in 1532 and she is believed to be from an old family of the nobility in Elsa�. On a recent brief visit to Worms we did not have time to research further, but information should be available.
