Hi Juergen, Thank you for your post on german occupation. I was looking of the occupation that in on a cd# 356-Passengers from Germany to America-1875-1888. For occupation on my gggrandmother and her son (my ggrandfather) they have "uncle". Than I notice that there were more "uncle" as occupation to other people on the cd..I did notice that they were for women and their children with no husbands..do you -or anyone else on this list -know what the meaning or why "uncle" is on there for occupation?
