Hello, On his Declaration of Intent, one of my ancestors has the Port of Detroit listed as the port of entry to the US from Prussia in June of 1853. Was Detroit used as a port of entry for Prussian immigrants or is it more likely that he arrived on the east coast and traveled to Detroit in route to his new home in the United States? I saw this information listed for several others as well, so the listing of Detroit was not just an isolated error. If I can locate a passenger list I should be able to resolve this, but in the mean time has anyone else seen this listed? AJ
