    3. I answered the original query and my answer went directly to that person; however, thought this might be of interest to the list. -------------Forwarded Message----------------- From: PATRICIA S. It has a lot of pix and information . It charges, depending on the amount of research required. Address: 75 Greenmanville Ave., Mystic, 06355. Phone: 860-572-071. E-mail, http://www.mysticseaport.org. I got a picture of a painting of a our Charlotte Reed from the Bath Maritime Museum, Bath, Maine, which owned a painting of the ship. I don't have its address readily available, but I found the place via telephone information. Pix was abt. $10. Both museums were most helpful. Nearly all sailing ships were painted. I've been astounded at the amount of information is available abt. shippings, their sailings, and so. The Charlotte Reed, which had sailed with my ancestors from Bremen in 1848, had been built in Bath, Maine. The museum had the surviving (after a fire, naturally) records of the shipbuilder. Unfortunately the logs of the Charlotte Reed did not survive, although some logs of other ships do. Another source of maritime information is the Maritime Museum in Newport News, Va. Not sure what it might have, but it's worth a try. It's a very large and wonderful museum. pat smith
