    3. Sorry, should have read the next 80 first, before I sent my other mail. I don't know what the difference is between the URLs, but this is the latest version on the list I received. Kind regards, Sietske Hoogerhuis <[email protected]> - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ---------------------------- Hello, ----------- I apoligize for my last message, it seems that my email program was having some pains with the URLs also. ----------- The number of subscribers now stands at 410. We have about 30 new subscribers per day and about 30 people who unsubscribe. The main complaint is the volume of mail the list has generated. I'd like to address that issue: 1. If you find the volume too much, you can subscribe to the digest mode of the mailing list, first unsubscribe from the list mode by using this address: [email protected] Then subscribe to the digest mode by using this address: [email protected] 2. PLEASE send all thank you's and other personal messages to the person's private email address and not to the list. 3. New subscribers can search the archives of this list to see if their question has already been answered by using either of these URLs: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ 4. Questions about Surnames in the current Germany can be easily answered by using the on-line German Phone Book: http://www.teleauskunft.de/ 5. Questions about town locations can be found on one of the on-line mapping sites. Links for these can be found on the Hessen site or my personal site. 6. Please visit Don Watson's Hessen Genealogy site for a wealth of information on all of Germany: http://users.rootsweb.com/~deuhes/Hessen/index.htm 7. There is also a short list of important URLs on my personal site: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~geishome/ggg/miscdebr/misclinkger.htm One last thing, please do not manually insert "Re:" into the Subject line of your emails. "Re:" is inserted into the subject line by your email program to show that it is a REPLY to a message. If you insert it in an original message, people will think that it is a reply to a previous message and become confused OR if you do it in a subscribe or unsubscribe email, the computer will ignore the email, Thank you for your cooperation, --------- Glenn G.
