I have just joined the list. My main reason was to start someplace. I have my family "von Metnitz" who came from France to Austria in 790 and then were in Austria at what is still the town Metnitz. Then after having their castle demolished by the Duke of Gurk(?) in the 1100s they settled in Klagenfurt (where I met a cousin)and I have extensive main line material on them there. I also have the family Pflaummer who settled in Weissenburg from the 1100s and just found I have a cousin there whom I met last week while in Europe for the first time. As these familis have a long and glorious history I have many lines that have married into them. I would like to be on a list for Klaggenfurt and Weissenburg and need advice as to where I should best be working. My father and his brother came to the USA in 1924 and then immigrated here in 1926. I find only 8 Metnitz listed in the phone directory that I checked on line, but lots of the Pflaummers. Would like t o be where I can assist others as I have a book of the families history that researchers and my grandmother and Uncle wrote in the 20-30 era. The families tie to many counts to King Barbarossa. I would appreciate any advice I can get, as I have mostly straight line lineage and not the children of t hese families except the one who carried my lineage foreward. Helene (von Metnitz) Pockrus
