Robert: I have some Scharfs in my family line who came from Erfurt. I am researching the Vater line . Klara/Clara Clementine Vater, born 1873 in Jena, married Johann Gottlieb Paul Scharf, a locksmith, in Erfurt in 1894. They had 9 children. I have contact with their daughter's family in Salt Lake City and their granddaughter in Solon, Ohio. Let me know if you think they may be connected to your Scharf family and I will send you all that I have on them. Paul, as he was called, was Catholic, and Klara was Lutheran.
