Dear Peter and list, Diacritical marks on the Mac are easy. The umlaut is made by pressing "option-u" and then the letter. Other diacritical marks are found in Key Caps in the Apple menu. Simple open key caps and press the "option" key and the marks will appear. Diane Düwell Smith
