Anyone know how I can teach it? Peter Hi Peter, Sure your Mac does this!!! Here's how to teach yourself! On the Mac: hold the option key as you type 'u'; release both, and retype your desired letter to be umlauted, ie. opt + 'u' (release both), then 'u' gives you the umlauted u; opt + 'u', then 'a' gives the umlauted a; same for umlauted o, i, and y. Option + 's' gives an immediate 'ess-tset' (ss). Enjoy, since this is yet one more thing the Mac does easier and quicker than a PC!
