* Dieter Bravo.... Very good advice. We traveled over 2000 miles in Germany and never made a reservation. Sometimes we were still after dark looking for the right place to stay, but not very often.... We were glad we rented a car and were not on a timetable for trains & busses. Our trip was much more relaxing. Even in Berlin, we parked our car at the place we stayed and took, bus to train station, then train to Berlin (about 20 minutes away) We didn't feel confident driving in heavy downtown traffic (like L.A.) but this worked for us. We would do the same thing next time. (no tours or prearranged reservations) Shirley >old and beautiful. Don't waste your time on the wrong places. Firstly >buy a traveller's guide and look for beautiful places along the road. >Then choose traditional and unpretending hotels in the center of >little romantic timberwork towns.
