I wrote to two separate archives in Leipzig trying to get imformation on Arno Henry Richter, and his brother Alfred. Arno was born in 1901 and Alfred around 1906 there. I know they sailed on the Westphalia and left Hamburg on May 5, 1928. According to Arno's Social Security application, their father was Karl Wilhelm Emil Richter, married to Anna Bertha Hartung, who were living at Hoferstr.38 in Leipzig in 1928. On April 30, 1931 Arno returned to Leipzig to visit his wife, Frida, who was living at Wasserturmstr.16 in Leipzig at the time. With this information from passenger lists and social security applications being included in my letter, I received letters back from both archives that many documents in Leipzig were destroyed during the war and they could not help me. Can anyone give me some advice on how I can pursue this? I previously posted this request and someone gave me the name of a genealogist named Andre Schmidt who never answered my inquiry.
