Does anyone know where I can locate military records for before 1900? And how old were boys in Germany when they enlisted or were enlisted in military service? And why can I only locate some family members and not others that are from the same family? I have located allot of them in Thuringia, but others are nowhere to be seen.Did Thuringia have its own Royalty in the 1800's and who were they? Thanks, Lori

I share your interest in finding military pre-1900 records. My ancestor from the Prussian province of Saxony (now Sachsen-Anhalt) fought in the Franco-Prussian war and 'supposedly' earned medals.
