Hi Pam, Mecklenburg was two Grand Duchies (Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Strelitz), not a kingdom. In order to research on a specialized mailing list, you may want to try the Mecklenburg-L: Send a message containing only (!) the following text in the body of the mail: subscribe mecklenburg-l to: majordomo@genealogy.net Do not include anything else in the text portion of the message (not even a blank), as this may confuse majordomo (ie no signatures). Please be aware that the listowner must approve all subscriptions, so there may be a slight delay in getting subscribed. And (also an advice for many, many other listers), please, don't use a subject line text which doesn't match the content of your message! Otherwise you'd run the risk many listers won't read but delete your posting only because of a wrong and not interesting subject line text. This is what someone posted recently: "I guess, I am not the only one with the problem: I am not keen on reading all long mailings. For this reason, a precise title is a great help to see what mailings are interesting!" Create or change a subject line text yourself which matches the purpose of your message as much as possible when posting or responding on the list (I've changed it for you, see above)! Btw, SPATHOLZ/SPATHOLT may not be SPALTEHOLZ, even if it looks similar for your eyes ...
