Dear listers, someone asked for help. Does anybody know where (area, places) people named LEUTBECKER might have been from? The US census records of 1860 and 1870 only say "Saxony" - unfortunately it's nor evident if Kingdom od Saxony or the Prussian Province of Saxony. Thank you so much for your help in advance! John Henry ZIEGENFUSS b 1817 m Eleanore (Lenore, Lena) SAUNDERS b 1815. Although John Henry's birthplace may be Duesseldorf, he certainly had relatives in and near Silberhausen, near Muehlhausen. The two daughters were born at Silberhausen: Elisabeth b 1850 Magdalene or Mary Magdalene b 1853. The family was Roman Catholic. The family emigrated to US in June 1857. Any further information would be appreciated. I have good information on descendents of Mary Magdalene Ziegenfuss Gebhart in the US and would be happy to share. Nicki
George GEBHART b about 1805 m about 1826 Mary Ann (Marie) ? b 1811. From Silberhausen, near Muehlhausen. Emigrated June 1852. Children: Georg b 1827; Joseph b 1842; Catharine b 1846; Bonifaz b 1848. Five other siblings unknown. Apparently George Senior emigrated at another date with the middle children. Mary Ann came with the oldest son and the youngest children. The family was Roman Catholic. Does anyone have any information on this family, or others of the same surname (any date) in the Silberhausen area? Thank you - I have good information on the family history in the US and would be happy to share it. Nicki
Am trying to find anyone related to the Bernhardt Koeppe family who came from Germany and settled in Wisonsin in the early 1860's. Bernhardt Koeppe, his wife Dorothea, and I think their son, Bernhardt Jr came with them. Later they had Hedwig (later called Hattie), William, and in 1870, Louis A. arrived, and he became my husband's grandfather............Thank you for any assistance. June D. Koeppe
I just looked at http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm and typed in Osterholz and Germany. It returned several and included one Osterholz-Scharmbeck. I double clicked on the underlined latitude-longitude and Mapquest gives a map you can zoom in to the city. Then ask to see the business map, and it lists Lowest Hotel rates, and you can check Holiday Inn, Kinko's, Denny's, Fairfield Inn, you can check attractions, money, dining, recreation, transportation, places of interest, etc. I am searching Frederick L. SCHUBERT, his sons Carl, Frederick, Bernard and 3 daughters, one Caroline, in Saxony before 1866. Your Osterholz-Scharmbeck is North of Bremen, so not Saxony - but do you have any of these? regards, Patricia SCHUBERT Zippin At 8:19 PM -0400 7/12/00, sfb wrote: >Can anyone tell me anything about Osterholz-Scharmbeck? I am new to this list although I have been researching for years my family roots in the Eichsfeld, which is a northern area of Thuriginia. The particular village is Niederorschel, where the Vatterotts originated in the 15th or 16th century. I am interested in others who may be studying the Eichsfeld, which was owned by the Catholic Church (Mainz) for almost 1000 years. Frank Vatterott.
Can anyone tell me anything about Osterholz-Scharmbeck? I am looking for a restaurant and/or hotel.GruB aus Scharmbeckstotel. Thanks Debbie Researching Beisner, Schubert, Miska, Vanderhoff, Beck and Wheeler

Hi. Is there anybody investigating the former VORPOMMERN and can be of help to me to get answer to the following questions? I have CASPAR H. KUNKEL, born 1707 at Johannisberg. He married ELISABETH PARTSCH the 2.1.1737 at Johannisberg and had two children: Friedrich Wilhelm, born 23.10.1737 and Ana Sophia, born 5.2.1740, both at Johannisberg. CASPAR ,married at second to DOROTHEA ELISABETH KRUEGER at Johannisberg the 1.8.1740 and had three children. Rosina Sophia, born 13.5.1741, Christoph Heinrich, born 6.2.1743 and Karl Ludwig, born 1.1.1746. At third CASPAR married to ANA ROSINA GUTBIER at Johannisberg the 20.6.1746 and had one child: Sophia Elisabeth, born 20.6.1746 at Johannisberg. One of his three sons, Friedrich, Christoph or Karl is most probably the father of CASPAR H. who married at KRUMBECK to Florentina Friederica ZEITZ the 17.5.1800 and died at at CARLSTHAL the 24.11.1846. Who was father of CASPAR H.? Who his mother? Where took the marriage place and where was CASPAR born? My anchestors were glasblowers back to 1700 and probably as to 1400. So i have to believe that every place to search for had to show glasmaking concessions and ovens. Who shows me the right way? Herbert Kunkel
