    2. It's kinda strange that mapquest drew a blank since Potsdam is not a small town and is the capital of the state of Brandenburg. It has postal codes 14467 thru 14482 and is located 8 miles southwest of Berlin and 20 miles due east of the city of Brandenburg. It is a city with much history. To see if it has its own website go to http://potsdam.de/ This works for all German cities - just replace "potsdam" with the name of another city name you are researching. Archives are found at http://www.fh-potsdam.de/%7EABD/links/deutsc.htm Regards, Curt [email protected] on 09/20/99 10:14:19 AM To: [email protected] cc: Subject: [GERMANKING] Re: GERMAN-KINGDOMS-D Digest V99 #301 Dear Listers: Where is Potsdam? 1. [GERMANKING] Lisperguer, Lisperg, Lisperberg etc.
    2. Herbert Mahler
    3. We have been working on the ancestors of the Chilean Lisperguer family for some years and the earliest Chilean we have traced is Peter Lisperguer, "Conquistador Alemn celebre." He was born in Worms, Germany in either 1530 or 1535. Records in Chile indicate that he came to Chile in 1557 and died in 1604 in Lima or from another source he died in Panama on the way to Europe and probably was buried in what is now known as Lima, Per. His parents are supposedly Peter Birling (Birlinguer in Spanish) who was born in Worms in 1503 and was said to be "Probst der Stadt Worms, " and Catharina Lisperg; they were probably married there in 1532 and she is believed to be from an old family of the nobility in Elsa. On a recent brief visit to Worms we did not have time to research further, but information should be available. You are probably a descendant as are we. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com

If any one has or is researching this town/area I would like to learn where I might start to look for the surnames of ZAELKE and FRITSCHE. I will use the LDS FHC index to see if these area has been filmed. But any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. John Fritsche in California
