Does anyone have any lead as to find a connection to Richard TEICHMANN who lived in Leisnig (NOT Leipzig!, but nearby), Germany and who had a son George Teichmann, who was born about 1886 ? George later spent some time in Saint Louis, MO, and then went back to Germany. Are there any descendants ? hans.

Hoping someone may have co me across this title which seems to relate to places in Maehren, today Czech Republic...Freiherr von Pittarn zu Liebenthal und Zottig is registered in the Vienna archives as something like a "Reichsarbeitsdientsfuehrer" but then mysteriously at the end of the war is registered as an "Archimandrit" of the greek-Catholic Church.(there is no knowledge of his having studied at any seminary only the Kriegschule). He was raised at the Hofburg and called the Kaiser "Grosspapa" and was educated at the Kriegsmarineschule. He was born the same year as the Mayerling murders and was adopted by an upper-middle class family named ZIRBS. Any information or insight into this rather strange case appreciated. I'm new to this list and don't really know how to write this query. My husband and I have been searching for about 15 years for his MARTIN ancestors. We have found them to be quite elusive. They were supposed to have come to the U.S. in 1833. We cannot find them until the 1860 census in Trimble Co. Ky. That census says they were born in Saxony. The father and mother were John G. (Johann Gottlieb) and Maria Justine/Christine/ Augustine (Gellert) MARTIN. John b. Dec 1800 and Justine in 1804. My husband's gr.grandfather, Charles Augustus MARTIN, their oldest son, was born in Germany in 1830. His death certificate only says Germany and the same as the birthplace for his parents. We are planning a trip to Germany in a couple of weeks and would like to do some research, but are at a loss as to know where to start. We have searched immigration records and ship's passenger lists to no avail. Were there Church of the Brethren congregations in Saxony? This is the cemetery where we find the graves of Charles A. Martin, his wife and several of his children, but John G. and Justine's graves have not been found. So we are unsure if that was their church, but there seems to be strong indications that is was. This is just a reminder: Most of us are not fluent in German. Those who are may not be fluent in English. I did have one minor problem using this translator. The city name ROSTOCK translates into English as Rust Ochre. So I had to remember to retype the translation as the city name.
