I'm new to the list and I'm trying to track down my WATERHOLTER ancestors. I'll post more later when I have more time from my work. Thank you.
Hi, I'm searching for an ancestor namen Hendrik Leonardus CONRADI, b. about 1756 in SAXENBURG, d. 23-9-1822 in Franeker, Netherlands. He was married to Helena Michiels van Vorsten, b. about 1761 in Groningen, Netherlands, d. 5-8-1831 in Franeker, Netherlands. The parents of Hendrik Leonardus CONRADI were Coenraad CONRADI and Anna Martha BROKENSCHUTS. There are a lot of CONRADIs, so they're hard to trace. The name could also be spelled as COENRADI, KONRADI, KOENRADI I haven't been able to trace the name BROKENSCHUTS or BROKENSCHUTZ anywhere. There is no SAXENBURG in Germany, but there is a SACHSENBURG in Sachsen, and a SACHSENBURG in Thüringen. There is a SASSENBERG in Nordrhein-Westfalen There is a SACHSENBERG in Hessen and a SACHSENBERG in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Is there anyone who can give me information on these CONRADIs and on the name BROKENSCHUTS? Can anyone give me advice which town to choose? I would presume, since Hendrik married a Dutch woman from Groningen (both a town and a province in the north of the Netherlands) and emigrated to Franeker in the province of Friesland, also in the north of Netherlands, that it is probably a town fairly close to Holland. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. From: "Patricia A. LeBeau" <[email protected]> Where would emigrants from Schwarzburg-Sondershausen have gone to take a ship to America circa 1850? This is now part of Thuringia but was once an independent principality. Any help appreciated. Patricia LeBeau, stonewalled ancestor seeker Hi, it is difficult to tell which port they would have gone to. Hamburg, Brema, also Netherlands... I know also about cases in which they went to England to get the passage. There is no rule or probability to be established. Yes, Schwarzenburg-Sondershausen was a kind of principality direktly under the emperor, i.e. not a free principality (like Monacco or Luxembourg today!). It was part of the German empire and part of the Fraenkischer Reichskreis. From the end of the 18th century, secularization and mediatization began. I.e. regions of prince bishops and monasteries became part of 'middle-states' and little 'Freiherrschaften' (= Baronships) became subject to the princes of middle states, like Bavaria, Wuerttemberg... In the following 8 years, the Frankish conglomerate of mini-states bekame cleard up. Thuringia was founded only 1920 out of several Saxon principalities and the Reuss principalities. Only, Saxe-Coburg went to Bavaria after a poll. That's it so far... ciao Bernd ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
Those of you looking for this info are really in a "coin toss" situation. They could have chosen any one of 5 ports to leave from. I'd look at overland or river travel north to Bremen or Hamburg. But that's just an educated guess. There's still Rotterdam and a couple of others. Check it out on a map. Check out what forms of transportation were available for your time period. ;~) Don ----- Original Message ----- From: Janis Young Aguilar <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> I, too, am looking for the same emigration information on a family from Schwartzburg

The ZIP code is 39345 Bülstringen belongs to Kreis Haldensleben, RegBez Magdeburg, Land Sachsen-Anhalt and is still an independent entity. The film numbers are at the web site where I found this info: http://users.rootsweb.com/~deuhes/Hessen/index.htm ;~) Don ----- Original Message ----- From: cmbrandt <[email protected]> Dear listers, I'm having a bit of a problem finding the city/town/village of Bülstringen (NW of Haldensleben)
Dear listers, I'm having a bit of a problem finding the city/town/village of Bülstringen (NW of Haldensleben) in the FHC catalog, and also in the German telephone book. Is this village a part of another town (Haldensleben, or Magdeburg)? Also, does anyone know if the LDS has been to Bülstringen, and if so what the LDS film #s are? Many thanks for your help. Cordially, C Brandt

Plathe was in Pomerania (Pommern) and now has a Polish name. Filmed church records from Plathe are available through any LDS family history center. Nancy
My gggrandfather A. Pacholl, born 1843 came from Plathe (sp?), Prussia. Is Plathe the correct spelling, does this town still exist, and on a map today - which country would this be in and where located? Anyone know? Does anyone have any connections to any Pacholl's from this area?
