    3. Thanks, Roger. I just recently attempted to post the information from my web page and encountered computer problems. Also, please keep in mind that this information is from a cousin's line. We feel that the forbears of the WATERHOLTER Family line, Johann and Anna Catharina WATERHOLTER, may have had more than one child.......one of them being either the son (or maybe he may be the grandson), William Frederick WATERHOLTER (my great-great grandfather). I'm going to see if I can post the information either in plain text and if not, give the URL so others can go to the website and read the information there. Thanks, again! 3. Good evening. I posted a few days ago regarding a recently translated letter that I received from The Netherlands. I was able to analyze the letter further, I found more genealogical information that may give more clues to solving the mystery of the WATERHOLTERS. I'm hesitant in posting the information here as I do not want to antagonize anyone. May I ask permission? Thank you. Pat McCoy

    3. The obituary of my husband's great-grandfather states that he was born Friedrich Christian KRITZMAN, duchy of Coburg, Saxony, Gotha Deisbam, in Marcus, Germany, on 14 Oct 1836." I am thinking that Deisbam would refer to the town that he was born in, and may be the present-day Dietharz, or Deesbach, both of which are in Th"uringen. Do you think those are safe assumptions? Also, what do you think the "Marcus" is? Could that be the name of the Lutheran church he was registered in? Darlene R. Kritzman

    3. Table of Links, Choose-A-Link: Town Locators. Click. Table of Links, Choose-A-link: Telephones/E-Mail. Click. Click on Teleauskunft. Type in the word Kirchen (church) and the name of the town. After you locate your church, go back to the same entry point and type in a surname you are looking for, and the name of the town (instead of Kirchen & the town name). See how your surnames are distributed vs-a-vs the zip code map of today. Look for clusters in the area you are interested in. Write to the church archives at the "Kirchen" address you found for all records prior to 1871. You can look for a specific church archive at Table of Links, Choose-A-Link, Archives I. The Family History Library (Catalog) Table of Links, Choose-A-Link, FastTrak Resources. The Sachsen web site is found by clicking on the flag logo near the top of the page. If you are patient and use the web site cleverly, you will need no other online research site. ;D on Genealogy: It's about time. ----- Original Message ----- From: Calvin Zippin <[email protected]> I keep looking at the Hessen index, and can't seem to find my town or church, or even the LDS catalog.

    1. [GERMANKING] Church Rejcords

    3. Dear Pat, The German Church records that I have recently come across give the name of the deceased, followed by place of residence, age, date of death, and date of burial.. Sometimes the last column is empty and I have not spent enough time analyzing the information when it is there to determine what it is. Those church records that I have looked at from German congregations here in the states seem to organize it with the date of death first, followed by burial, name, place of birth, cemetery and then cause of death if known. Perhaps different groups chose different methods of organizing the information. It seems like the early German records are just written out in paragraph form. I really like it when they got to the column method of recording. It sure simplifies it for us nonGerman speaking folks. From my experience this seemed to occur around 1840. Sounds like you are finding information and that sure makes genealogy a worthwhile hobby. Sara in Alaska

    3. Pat You should have two column at the left for" first the date of death and second the date of burial., the next columns are the name of the deceased and the age at the time of death. The final two columns (sometimes only one) are for the cause of death.
