I have the same problem, if it is any consolation. Only on Plzen archives, you have to type in the exact parish (Czech) name. No auto-completion, no "any village in a parish." I don't like it. It has been that way for several months (maybe since they switched totally to the non-login version). On at least 3 OSes and 3 browsers. Occasionally, I think I see some other search box flash by when the page is loading, but it is hard to be sure. I've been meaning to write and ask about it, but haven't gotten around to it since I'm using always the same parish anyway. ________________________________ From: "german-bohemian-request@rootsweb.com" <german-bohemian-request@rootsweb.com> To: german-bohemian@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, June 25, 2012 2:00 AM Subject: GERMAN-BOHEMIAN Digest, Vol 7, Issue 90 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Sun, 24 Jun 2012 19:22:24 -0800 From: judy petersen <skigranny@gmail.com> Subject: [GERMAN-BOHEMIAN] Plzen archives To: German Bohemians mail list <GERMAN-BOHEMIAN@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <CANkWree04sXXKFNnG0xvwjoMWWBZeg2EJQ2OGWrRdWiq=VZMHg@mail.gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Has anyone else accessed the Plzen archives thru actapublica.eu recently? I tried to do a search tonight, but the page that came up didn't have the word "obec" (town). It had only a space with "Hledat" (search) at the end, & when I put a village name (Nebilovy) in that space, it didn't bring up a list of records for Nebilovy. I have been using the Prague archives on actapublica, & that brings up "obec" & "hledat" so that I can search by village. Is Plzen down or have they changed the search method from other archives? Thanks for any answers. Judy, in Alaska
I, too, have had to type in the Parish name as it doesn't bring up anything when just an obec or village name is typed in on the Plzen site. I, too, see a box flash by, but it never stays long enough to see what it is. Luckily, so far, I have the parish names for all the villages I need, but if I need to branch out to other villages where I don't know the parish name, it will be a problem. One time, I started typing in the larger villages in the area I was researching and hit upon the Parish neededm but that is tedius . I haven't used the other Archives, only the Pilzen one but there must be a "bug" in the searching because of that box flashing on and then back off so quickly. Any help or further ideas would be appreciated. That's my problem EXACTLY. I even tried to move the cursor quickly to that "flash by" box, but it disappears too quickly. I got a reply from one list member who suggested using another browser, but it's the same for Explorer & Firefox for me. And, it's only the Plzen archives - the other 3 bring up the search box for "obec". I'm hoping someone can solve the problem of why only one archives has the problem. Here's hoping we're not the only 2!! Judy On Mon, Jun 25, 2012 at 5:28 AM, Dennis Nicklaus <dnicklaus@yahoo.com>wrote: > I have the same problem, if it is any consolation. Hi Judy, Dennis, I just published a short guide how to handle this problem. See my blog - http://czechgenealogy.blogspot.cz/2012/06/actapublicaeu-pilsen-archives-guide.html Kind regards Blanka Dne 25.6.2012 15:28, Dennis Nicklaus napsal(a): > I have the same problem, if it is any consolation.
