>From what I have read, GRAMPS is unlike GENI.COM in that the database is stored locally on your PC harddrive, not on the internet. Once installed, no access to the internet is required. Storage for data is relatively inexpensive these days, but of course you are responsible for having backups of the data either on another external drive, and/or a remote storage unit/server as well for extra insurance. It will import/export in GEDCOM format.
