    1. [GERMAN-BOHEMIAN] Jastrow or Yastrow Germany where is it now
    2. I have a distant relative that is from Yastrow or Jastrow, Germany back in the late 1800's. I cannot find a Yastrow in Germany. Another person told me Yastrow is in Czechoslovakia, near Prague. I can't find it in Czech. either. None of the cities in Czech start with the letter "Y" so it must be spelled differently. Anyone have any suggestions? thanks allen

    3. Allen, try this link, it might lead you to the GPS location: http://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/LocTown.asp It seems that there was Yastrow at Posen which was within the German Imperium long before the existence of the third Reich. After WW2, while the Russians were given the Eastern part of Poland, they in turn, rewarded the Poles by giving them all German parts in the West of Poland, up to the Oder river. The areas lost were East Pommerania, the West Prussian Corridor, Danzig, Silesia, Brandenburg, etc. making the Eastern border of Germany the Oder river. Look at maps from 1880 what Germany looked like and then look at the present map of 2012, and you will see all the territories that were lost to Poland.
