U.K. Port Embarkations Online 1837online.com has signed a £2.5 million ($4.32 million U.S.) deal to scan and place online the National Archives' entire historical database of passengers who embarked on sea voyages from Britain's shores between 1890 and 1960. The estimated 30 million individual records include details of emigrations to Australia, North and South America, India and Africa. 1837online.com will begin scanning the originals this month and aims to have the records online towards the end of this year.
