Would anyone like to comment on the family name DOBES, as it might be morphed into DAVIS on the long journey between the Old World & the New World in the 1880's? Would this be a likely for any German-Bohemian/Polish/ Russian/"wandering Jewish" family on its way Westward??? Any other possible names you know of that would "fit" a family in flight's name change would be appreciated also! Still hunting for a break in the original country via the arrival of our Grandfather Maurice A & wife Amelia DAVIS in late 1881 in Cleveland, OH. My "best wishes" to everybody out there searching ...and searching ... Jo DAVIS (for my husband Robert) PS: Are there any Cleveland M.A. DAVIS descendants out there??? If you are researching the family, PLEASE contact me! There was a Joseph, Yetta, Simon, Katherine, Estelle, Albert, Jeanette, Herbert and an Ethyl among their 11 children; but some of these never married... ----- Original "snippet" of Message ----- From: <proxima-shining@quick.cz> To: <BOHEMIA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 30, 2006 2:23 PM Subject: [BOHEMIA] Re: Vevera Family > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lMC.2ACI/4199.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Dobsova is the female form of the surname Dobes.
