    3. Generally, the LDS does not accept data input on "living" persons to protect their identity. This is for the purpose to make it difficult for ID thieves who are looking for maiden names which banks are using for verification purposes. So here I can see the need that we tell our bank not to use our mother's maiden name and to use some other "password" and this should be brought up the moment you open a new account at a bank. And those of us who have banked for many years with the same bank, we should probably approach them for some such change also. While such caution does not surprise me I must take EXCEPTION to this impossibly harsh rule reaching as far back as the 18th century. That is 1700-1799! What I am observing on this list are questions about immigrant ancestors and their time frame moves mostly around late 19-20th century. It would be impossible to trace a family under such a harsh rule because our search would practically stop before it began! How can you get a consent from "all living descendants" of someone in the 18th century? Most of the time we don't even know who they are until we happen to "come together" on a mutual search line!!! This seems to me almost unworkable.
