I pay for ancestry.com and have never been disappointed!! The chat lines alone helped me find my relatives in Chicago. Their name had been misspellled by a census taker. I love the service they offer!! I am a fan and would recommend it to anyone that has the time to use it. You can't just type in a name and boom be done. You have to keep tweaking and reading and searching. It is a resource. Just my two cents. :) Mary Jo ------ Original Message ------ From: Eugene E Vanacek <evanacek2@juno.com> Date: Thursday, November 17th, 2005 8:32 AM CST To: GERMAN-BOHEMIAN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GERMAN-BOHEMIAN] Fw: [Godfrey Lib-H] Some Good News To Pass On! I don't think so. I used it with NO registration and have found a bunch of my family members. I got some birth dates I didn't have and they give you a description of the person, color of hair, height, etc. Also if they were married in some cases the wife name is listed. I think it is great site to check out. I am running all my surnames and using as much as I can by the 25th and the best thing it's FREE right now. I have been a subscriber to Ancestry.com for 5 or 6 years. I love it when they get something new!! I found my husband's grandfather in the WWI draft unexpectedly! He had served in the Field Artillery as a private for five years prior to the draft in 1917. This was a great find. Too bad the records for that era were destroyed in the 1973 fire at NPRC in St. Louis, MO!! I have also used my subscription to help others find their relatives in various databases at Ancestry.com. It is well worth the money for me!
