Just a comment on the census -- I already found all of the family in the 1900, 1920, and 1930 census and sent this on to Gerhard. They lived continuously in Chicago through the 1930 census. In fact, it is a little interesting, all of the children still lived in the same house with Katharina, their mother, in 1930, though adult -- but not married. Some or all of the children must have moved after that to McHenry, for Gerhard had the address. And the later obits stated some lived in McHenry, which of course, is much closer to Rockford. I felt lucky, actually, that I could find those obituaries in the Chicago Tribune, when they really lived fairly far away. They must have had friends back in Chicago who they wanted to know about the death of one of their sibs. So there is really not much point in looking for other census in other counties until the 1940 census is released. BTW, in the 1920 census of Cook County, there were 650 people named Bauer! I was having a little trouble with the 1910 census, but decided since I already had established their approximate years of birth with other census, I didn't have to work at it so hard. The point was REALLY to find descendants. Sooooo... still hoping someone can look up obits for George and Edith in the Houston Chronicle (they were not in the Chicago Tribune as a duplicate, I already checked). If there is no one here who can do it, we could try Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness, or I can order microfilm rolls myself. I kind of assumed from the location of Huffman, that it's a suburb of Houston. While another Bauer in Huffman is interesting, using Whitepages gets 80 listings of the name Bauer in the Houston area. Me, I would like to narrow it down a little! Linda
