Cross posted from OGS conference news: Hello, everyone! It's cold and snowy in northwest Ohio, but plans are heating up for April! We have an announcement concerning a Thursday workshop. The presentation from 3:30-6pm, Using Original Courthosue Records: A Hands-on Workshop, has been cancelled due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict. We do apologize for any inconvenience. If you have already signed up for this event, your money will be refunded. A reminder, the Ohio Historical Society will be having microfilm of the death records for the state of Ohio. As in the past, the records will be made available at $.25 each. To make things easier at the conference, please go to the Ohio Historical Society's website at: http://www.ohiohistory.org/dindex/ This link will take you directly to the page for the Ohio Death Index. The index now contains names through 1944. However, the film at the OGS conference will be through 1953. Obtain the certificate numbers and years prior to the conference to make your time more productive. The program for the OGS conference is online at: http://ogs.org/2006conf.php. This will take you to the conference brochure. By clicking on any of the days under "Schedule of Events" you'll be able to determine what sessions you'd like to attend. Research opportunities are also listed. Not only can you visit the beautiful Toledo Lucas County Public Library, but within easy driving distance is also the Center for Archival Collections at Bowling Green State University, as well as the Hayes Presidential Library in Fremont, Ohio. Hotel information is also online. It is easy to contact the Radisson and make your reservations without leaving your computer. Rates are $89.
