Aida, Thank you for your reply & research in my behalf. Being new on the list, this is a warm welcome. You mentioned "Ingrisch and Wohlrab/Wollrab are ancient Egerlander names of very old families" Would you please explain what "ancient Egerlander names of very old families" refers to? I googled "ancient Egerlander names" and nothing came up. I hired a genealogist 3 years ago, for the Ingrisch Genealogy in Banat. He has tracked back to Joannes Raymundus INGRISCH, Engrisch, Engerisch B. ~1750 [??], Rojau [ex Imperio ( Loco "Tepl. [?] Fepl." ie [?] "Tipelweiler, Trevirensis") X Military] Marriage # 1 on 19.12.1793, in Neubeschenowa, to Barbara BAUER, wid. - then 2nd marriage abt 1799 to Catharina MALZ / MALTZ / MALG / MALCZ in Mercydorf, Banat. For a long time I could not get past this information. After long investigations, last January I located a new Ingrisch relative in the US, who had in her possession a very old family tree, rooting back to Rojau, but oddly "no" information regarding Joannes, except he went to Banat, Hungary. View this amazing handwritten family tree: http://www.lifesadance.net/genealogy/ancestry/ingrisch/rojau_chart.htm This leads me to think this old tree was possibly prepared by someone living in Rojau and sent to the Ingrisch family in Banat, in hopes of someone filling in the gaps and re-send it back to the originally sended in Rojau. We'll never know at this point. The documents reflect that all Joannes' siblings remained in the Marienbad area. The only one mentioned in regards to the Banat was Joannes Raimund INGRISCH, which this further confirms the findings of the Genealogist I hired. I then began searching for Ingrisch in Rajau, Bohemia and Marienbad County. I located a man in possession of the "church records from Rojau (Rajov), Marienbad County" known as Kirchenbuches (Familienbuch), vom Ort Rojau (Rajov) bei Marienbad, and I wrote to him requesting assistance. Was I surprised when he replied, sending me the actual Church Record Entries for our INGRISCH. This was further confirmation about our INGRISCH - WOLLRAB - FISCHER - PIMPL - families in Rojau. You may view these old records at: http://www.lifesadance.net/genealogy/ancestry/rojau-habakladrau/Ingrisch-Rojau-church-record.htm But here again, even on these church records it doesn't states Joannes Raimund INGRISCH date or birth and only that he went to Banat, Hungary. Almost like a forgotten child. I was told possibly this information was provided to the church at a later date, more so as comments rather than birth records, etc. So this is why I thought to back track into his military career in hope of finding more specific information about him. That is when I stumbled across this most informative list and hope to learn from you all. Your guess that your ancestor went there with the military is, therefore, correct. The location of Beschenova is now Romania (like the Egerland is now an area of the Czech Republic) but both were within the common motherland of Austria-Hungary for 400 years. You may want to visit their website I am giving you the URL below (this is the English version). Also, if you go to the LDS Family Research Center, they have microfilms of all Church Registers back to the first settlers for the Banat region. You may be able to backtrack from there. There are no microfilms for Bohemian Churches available at the LDS Family Research Center and you will have to contract a genealogist to search the Pilsen Archives where our records of the Egerland are located. Ingrisch and Wohlrab/Wollrab are ancient Egerlander names of very old families. http://www.dvhh.org/neubeschenowa/zollner.htm Aida From: "Mehala" < mehala@att.net> Subject: Tepl Military location - Rojau, Habakladrau, Marienbad Co, Bohemia Date: Fri, 2 Dec 2005 03:55:44 -0500 Does anyone know what military group a young man would have been a part of during te 1790's? And where exactly he would have been stationed in the area of Tepl? Was there a war going on during this time? Below is my GGGGGrandfather's information. If anything rings a bell, please let me know. Joannes Raimundus INGRISCH, b. somewhere between 1763 & 1769 in Rajau / Rojau, Habakladrau, Marienbad County, Bohemia. On his 1793 marriage record he reported a last place of residence as Tepl. From what I gather Tepl was a military location and apparently, while still in the military, Joannes was transferred from Tepl to Banat area of Hungary." There he married Barbara BAUER on 19 Dec 1793 in the village of Neubeschenowa, Hungary. His parents information: INGRISH, Anton, peasant in Rojau, born in 1727, died on 26 May 1812 + Anna Maria nee WOLLRAB, born in 1742, died on 24 Sep 1817 Names on old Family Chart from Rojau, Marienbad, Bohemia: Ingrisch, Wollrab, Lodes, Lindauer, Pimpl, Kohler, Pimpl, Turba, Fischer Many Thanks, Jody McKim
