    3. The most economical and safe method I used to send money to Germany was just buying American Express Traveler Cheques at my bank, countersigned them, and sent them. You just won't get any change back so buy it in the denomination that will best match your need. Certainly alot less than those hefty bank transfer fees. The banks I spoke with said it would cost about $35. to send a wire transfer for an amount less than $100. in my case. The international routing number to the account your sending it to would also be be needed, the bank just doesn't write a check for you. The post office doesn't offer any method of payment to Europe at all I found out. I have been trying to find an economical way to send him the money I owe him. I checked with my local bank first but they want a $50 fee to transfer money to a bank account in Germany. Seems pretty high to me. Wal Mart offers a money transfer option but their Money Gram in not available in Nuremberg. I have searched in vein for an international check or money order but I have not been able to find anything. There are some web sites that offer this service but I am not sure if I can trust them. > > Any ideas? > > Louis > German-Bohemian Heritage Society web site http://www.rootsweb.com/~gbhs/ > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Only one problem: by countersigning the Traveler Cheques you turn them into cash. Anybody can cash them. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jim Schloegl Sent: Sunday, January 24, 2010 6:42 PM To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: Re: [GERMAN-BOHEMIAN] Sending Money Internationally The most economical and safe method I used to send money to Germany was just buying American Express Traveler Cheques at my bank, countersigned them, and sent them.
