Aida, Frank & Larry; Just a quick note to thank you all for these suggestions. Though my husband is of German/Bohemian ancestry, I am not currently working on his ancestry (Just got a new laptop and am spending my time figuring it out and transferring programs). My question was on behalf of a friend of a friend who I hope will avail herself of the knowledge and expertise of this list. Again, many thanks for your suggestions and continuing help to all of us. Hello Sam - In addition to Aidas reply there is a distinct possibility that they came through Canada. In the 1880's fares were much cheaper to go from Hamburg or Bremerhaven to Halifax or Quebec and take the train from there to northern US States. It would help if you had a departure date or a ships name.
