Their conflict with the Romans banned them to isolated places. Therefore, their language and culture was preserved in Ireland, Scotland and Wales. But they were instrumental of early settlements, judging from the names of geographical places they left behind. Eventually a more sophisticated DNA testing will show their relationship to Slavic, Ugric and Germanic people.
