Negative reports by some writers described that area as a rather "desolate frontier" when they explored the region by taking long hikes or bike rides. There can no longer be any question that his has changed. Tourism has been brisk on both sides of the border and much has been done to further it. There are many similarities between Bohemia and Bavaria. This includes delicious food and a similar beer culture which we can explore in very different ways. A gastronomical exhibition opened at the Deggendorf museum entitled ?Kn?del,Kloss,Knedlik? which means in all three languages. The "three-country project? on the favorite food of Bavaria, Franconia and Bohemia was developed in cooperation with the House of Frankish history at the castle and the county Abenberg Museum in Cheb (Eger). True is the motto of "history through our stomachs" to the exhibition numbered in the month of May 1250 visitors, and that is just a beginning. A voyage of discovery about the Franco-Bavarian-Bohemian relations will find that the Bavarians and Franks have a lot more in common with their Bohemian neighbors, as many might have accepted. Over the rim of their cooking pots, this exhibition documents their common history with is exhibited in the museum with items from Bavaria, Franconia and Bohemia. The exhibition is largely bilingual (German / Czech), so that invited Czech visitors, also, may confirm the existence of the dumplings and noodles beyond the "dumplings" from their domestic pots. All culinary similarities and subtle differences can be found very convincing when we go hiking or cycling through the Bohemian-Bavarian border and when stopping in comfortable inns with ordering a "snack". The "Zoigl bike path" will let a beer connoisseur's heart beat faster as he can found different varieties of the bottom-fermented, unfiltered beer with natural carbon dioxide, which is brewed in an open brew kettle. These breweries: Kommunbrauereien Eslarn, Falkenberg, Mitterteich, Neuhaus and Windisch Eschenbach are celebrating a nearly 600-year-old brewing tradition. An approximately 115 km long road begins and ends in Mitterteich in Eslarn, where at every stop a fresh Zoigl (stein of beer) awaits the brave cyclist. There is a 30 kilometers long guided bicycle tour which starts every Tuesdays at Sch?nsee in the Oberpfalz (Upper Palatinate). You then cycle through the picturesque Bavarian and Bohemian borderlands and learn a lot about legends, history and curiosities from the Bohemian-Bavarian neighborhood. Also very popular is a 90 km Friendship trail guided by experienced cyclists which starts in Nabburg in the Upper Palatinate Forest and ends in the Bohemian Forest at Hor?ovsk? T?n. There, visitors can take a tour at the mid-13th Century Bishop's Castle. Now the Palace and Park are accessible to visitors?..
