    3. At least I have company in the access problem. I hope Dennis & Marg have both seen the helpful answers from Blanka & David Crider. Thank you to both of you for all the help. I think that solves the problem, though the Plzen archives records remain more difficult to access than the others on actapublica. I've used the gazeteer at genteam.at countless times, so I'm prepared with the parishes of all my villages. Thanks again. Judy

    3. That's my problem EXACTLY. I even tried to move the cursor quickly to that "flash by" box, but it disappears too quickly. I got a reply from one list member who suggested using another browser, but it's the same for Explorer & Firefox for me. And, it's only the Plzen archives - the other 3 bring up the search box for "obec". I'm hoping someone can solve the problem of why only one archives has the problem. Here's hoping we're not the only 2!! Judy On Mon, Jun 25, 2012 at 5:28 AM, Dennis Nicklaus <dnicklaus@yahoo.com>wrote: > I have the same problem, if it is any consolation. 3.  I, too, have had to type in the Parish name as it doesn't bring up anything when just an obec or village name is typed in on the Plzen site. I, too, see a box flash by, but it never stays long enough to see what it is.  Luckily, so far, I have the parish names for all the villages I need, but if I need to branch out to other villages where I don't know the parish name, it will be a problem.  One time, I started typing in the larger villages in the area I was researching and hit upon the Parish neededm but that is tedius . I haven't used the other Archives, only the Pilzen one but there must be a "bug" in the searching because of that box flashing on and then back off so quickly.  Any help or further ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks, Marg McEuen --- On Mon, 6/25/12, Dennis Nicklaus <dnicklaus@yahoo.com> wrote: From: Dennis Nicklaus <dnicklaus@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [GERMAN-BOHEMIAN] Plzen archives To: "german-bohemian@rootsweb.com" <german-bohemian@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, June 25, 2012, 7:28 AM I have the same problem, if it is any consolation.  Only on Plzen archives, you have to type in the exact parish (Czech) name. 1. [GERMAN-BOHEMIAN] Access problems - Pizen archives
    2. Gerald Ripley
    3. My 2 cents worth. From the point of view of a computer professional, the problems with access to the Pizen archives might be an issue with the browser you use. Try another browser, all are good and, contrary to the advertising, all have problems with certain webpages. Personally I have Safari, Chrome and Firefox open. Safari for most of my browsing, Chrome for one daily operation and Firefox for another. Check that your Java software is up-to-date and clear your cache. Solves a lot of problems.

    1. [GERMAN-BOHEMIAN] Plzen archives
    2. judy petersen
    3. Has anyone else accessed the Plzen archives thru actapublica.eu recently? I tried to do a search tonight, but the page that came up didn't have the word "obec" (town). It had only a space with "Hledat" (search) at the end, & when I put a village name (Nebilovy) in that space, it didn't bring up a list of records for Nebilovy. I have been using the Prague archives on actapublica, & that brings up "obec" & "hledat" so that I can search by village. Is Plzen down or have they changed the search method from other archives? Thanks for any answers. Judy, in Alaska

    1. [GERMAN-BOHEMIAN] Marriage records in Rosshaupt/Rozvadov
    2. Brandt Gibson
    3. A cousin of mine pointed me to the Actapublica website, where he'd found marriage records of several of my ancestors. The problem is, I don't know exactly what records these are, how to cite them, or how to read them. Is there anyone here who can read these? I'm pretty sure they're in German, but can't tell for sure as the handwriting is difficult for me to read. If you want to see the exact record I'm referring to, the marriage for Johan Zitzmann and Theresia Dorfler, here are my cousin's instructions on finding it. It's the 2nd record on the left page. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Open www.actapublica.eu , than point on Vyledavani, than open SOA Plzen. Than type rozvadov in the search-field and click hledat. In the coming page of the churchbooks select e.g. line 18 by inserting folium number 15 in the box at the right end of the line and click on the magnifying glass symbol, now the page should open. Thanks, Brandt Gibson Fife, WA

    2. I can read German, so I can "use" this site, but I am clueless when it comes to where I should look for my relative Martin Pichler, who was possibly a senator in Bohemia. Can anyone direct me? Thanks. 3. Thank you to both Pam & Frank for ideas on how to deal with ordering familysearch films. I will probably purchase a gift credit card & use it at the family history center when I get up that way. This is a do-able solution to my probably somewhat unique situation, & I look forward to trying it out. Thanks again.
