    1. [GERMAN-BOHEMIAN] Geological Map of Bohemia
    2. Aida Kraus
    3. >From Aida: I came across this website showing an excellent map of Bohemia and the areas where its natural resources are deposited. If you copy and paste the map to your Paint Program it enlarges automatically and you can navigate to find individual areas of interest to you. The villages and towns carry the original German name known to your ancestors. You can also use the Zoom tool on the website. If you want to cut out certain areas of interest, use the capture tool. You find it following this path: start-all programs-accessories- snipping tool http://www.jursitzky.net/Download/Geologische-Landkarte-Boehm.gif

    1. Re: [GERMAN-BOHEMIAN] U-Tube Map Chronology of Europe
    2. Hello Aida, Thanks for the great U-tube sites! I've seen other maps before, but none like this, where it is animated and automatically changes through the years. And for an added bonus, our ears are entertained by Schubert. How do you keep finding all this neat stuff? Thanks, Gary p.s. Is there a statue of Schubert I could have seen in a Vienna city park? I found this "history lesson" on U-tube and if you play it a few times you will become aware of the chronology, thereby, the homeland of your ancestors will become much clearer, First, there is the wider map of the large Austrian Hungarian Monarchy:

    3. The bank in Europe needs a correspondent US bank. Not all foreign banks have a US correspondent bank. Plus, the bank will charge a fee to process the check and charge a fee for currency conversion. Your bank may also charge a fee...banks in US charge for everything now. The fee shows up at the end of your accounts monthly cycle. ______ Lavrentiy Krupniak Audrey wrote: > > Doug: > > I had the same problem. I need to pay a researcher in Moravia. 3. I owe a good friend in Germany money for some items he purchased for me. I have been trying to find an economical way to send him the money I owe him. I checked with my local bank first but they want a $50 fee to transfer money to a bank account in Germany. Seems pretty high to me. Wal Mart offers a money transfer option but their Money Gram in not available in Nuremberg. I have searched in vein for an international check or money order but I have not been able to find anything. There are some web sites that offer this service but I am not sure if I can trust them. 3. The last time I used the International Currency Exchange the cost was just $10. I called 888.278.6628 and used my credit card to order a draft for Germany. They told me how much the exchange rate was that day and gave the total amount in US dollars. Then they sent me the draft to mail to Germany. I have also used them to send money to Hong Kong.  You can also contact them at www.foreignmoney.com. I think they have a genealogy button.   Remember that if you send a personal check to a foreign country the receiver will have to pay a substantial charge to transfer it into his/her currency.   Whenever there are questions about how to do thinks in Germany it is a good idea to check www.members.cox.net/hessen/history/htm or www.members.cox/hessen/payforit.htm   The FAQs and all the advice are for ALL Germany. Don Watson has been giving this advice for years, and will even help personally. 3. Hi, I send money to people in Europe all the time and the easiest for everyone is to use Paypal (www.paypal.com). You can open an account and use a credit card or they can take it directly from a bank account. The person on the other end needs to have an email address and they will be notified when you transfer the money. They can then request the money be deposited into their bank account or have a check sent to them. Paypal is completely reliable and takes care of the exchange from dollars to Euros or whatever currency is involved. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Louis Lindmeyer Sent: Sunday, January 24, 2010 2:29 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [GERMAN-BOHEMIAN] Sending Money Internationally I owe a good friend in Germany money for some items he purchased for me.
