Bowles, Dorothy Marion, Oct. 16, 1924-Nov. 21, 2012 The Tribune Greeley, Colorado 27 Nov 2012 Residence: Greeley Dorothy Marion Matheson Bowles, 88, of Greeley, passed away at her home on Nov. 21, 2012. She was born in Greeley, on Oct. 16, 1924, to Charles and Dorothy (Shaffer) Matheson. She married Robert M. Bowles on April 10, 1949, in Greeley. Dorothy graduated from Greeley High in 1941. She entered Colorado State College of Education in August 1946, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She was a teacher at Wray Junior High, Wray, Colo.; Meeker Junior High, Greeley; Park City Junior High, Park City, Utah; Arlington Elementary, Jackson Elementary and Centennial Elementary, all in Greeley. Dorothy attended First Congregational Church and was involved in many organizations in her lifetime, including Chapter I P.E.O. Sisterhood, Union Colony Pioneer Society, First Congregational Church Circle Group 7, Delta Kappa Gamma – Alpha Rho, Military Order of the Purple Heart Ladies Auxiliary, International Order Rainbow for Girls, Grand Cross of Color, DGD and the Thursday Lunch Friendly Club. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Lukassen, Greeley and Jeanette Bowles (Steven) Romero, Greeley; son, Chuck (Wendy) Bowles, Greeley; grandchildren, Brandon Lukassen, Greeley, Sean Lukassen, The Woodlands, Texas, Amanda Romero, Colorado Spring, Colo., Brooke Lukassen (Michael) Brown, Killeen, Texas, Nicholas Romero, Fort Collins, Colo., Matthew Bowles, Greeley, Jennifer Bowles, Greeley, and Lukas Bowles, Greeley; great-grandchildren, Brenna and Layla Brown, Killeen, Texas, and Julian Sergent, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Bowles. A visitation will be held from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at the First Congregational Church. Interment at Linn Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to PEO Chapter I – Local Scholarship Fund, or Hospice of Northern Colorado or the Union Colony Pioneer Society in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th St., Greeley, CO 80631.
