    3. >From Greeley Tribune, 1 December 2012: Esther Becker Dec. 2, 1927-Nov. 27, 2012 Age: 84 Residence: Greeley Esther Becker, 84, of Greeley, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at MeadowView assisted living facility, where she had lived for the last three years. She was born on Dec. 2, 1927, at Prospect Valley, Colo., to Eva (Mikel) and Karl Baumgartner, who were first-generation Germans from Russia. She graduated from Prospect Valley High School and married Albert Becker on Feb. 6, 1945, in Tyler, Texas. They began farming in 1952, and farmed in the Prospect Valley area for about 50 years, raising sugar beets, pinto beans, barley, corn, wheat, sunflowers and other crops. After retiring from farming in 1991, Albert and Esther traveled all over the world, including Europe, Australia, Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico. They were members of the North 40 Motorhome Club and traveled to all 50 states with this group. Esther was a member of the Zoar Congregational Church in Prospect Valley and held several offices in the Zoar Ladies Aid. For many years, she was the Prospect Valley social reporter for the Keene-Valley Sun. She raised two children and enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing and cooking for her family. After moving to Greeley, Albert and Esther belonged to St. Paul’s Congregational Church and the Evans Senior Center, where they continued many old friendships and made numerous new friends. In October 2009, they moved to MeadowView assisted living facility in Greeley and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary there in 2010. Esther is survived by her son, Dennis Becker, and his wife, Earlene, of Littleton, Colo..; her daughter, Vicki Walter, and her husband, Kieth, of Aurora, Colo.; and her sister, Martha Huwa, of Aurora. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Amy Becker of Denver, and Melissa Walter of Aurora. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents, Karl and Eva Baumgartner; her sister, Lydia; her brothers, Leonard, Dave, Herman, Charley, and Reuben; and her grandson, Eric Becker. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at St. Paul’s Congregational Church, 1525 43rd Ave., Greeley.
