Schreiner, Ruben, March 18, 1929- Dec. 21, 2012 Scottsbluff Star Herald Scottsbluff, Nebraska 28 Dec 2012 TORRINGTON, Wyo. - Ruben Schreiner, 83, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at Goshen Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, at The First Congregational Church of Torrington with Pastor Rick Carroll officiating. Mr. Schreiner will be cremated following the service. Military services will be provided by the Wyoming National Guard. A memorial has been established to Goshen Care Center. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 27, from 3 to 7 p.m. and the casket will be open prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of The Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com. Ruben was born March 18, 1929 at Torrington the son of Jacob and Pauline (Bott) Schreiner. He attended school at Cottier and at Torrington, before serving in the U.S Army from 1951 to 1953. On Nov. 27, 1954 he married Ruth Kuntz at Torrington. They farmed and fed cattle in the Cottier area until Ruben enterer Goshen Care Center in 2007. While farming beets, Ruben modified a new John Deere four row beet digger to a six-row digger with storage. In his early years Ruben enjoyed boxing and he played fast pitch softball for The First United Church of Christ. He also enjoyed boating, bowling, tractor pulling and street racing. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruben was affiliated with The First United Church of Christ. He was a lifetime member of Paul A. Johnston Post #2918 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and he served on the Goshen County Beet Growers Association Board of Directors. Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Torrington; daughters, Mairlyn Riggs of Gering, Rebecca (Mark) Jolovich of Torrington, Brenda (Allan) Rising of Torrington, Diane (Dan) Schwartzkopf of Torrington, and Rhonda Kelly of Minatare; sons, Michael (Catherine) Schreiner of Veteran, Wyo. and Alan Schreiner of Corona, Calif.; sisters, Betty (Allen) Miller of Torrington, Minnie Reed of Belle Fourche, S.D. and Maryann (Jerry) Caldwell of Torrington; grandchildren, Brandt (Misty) Schreiner, Brittney Schreiner, Sage Schreiner, Siena Schreiner, Kristy (Chris) Green, Ryan (Becci) Riggs, Skylar Adair, Michael (Roxanne) Jolovich, Nicole Jolovich, Cole(Lauren) Rising, Danielle Rising and her fiancé Matt Franks, Danielle (Tracy ) Wondercheck, Jamie Schwartzkopf, Jake Kelly, Jessica Kelly and her fiancé David Forest and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceding Ruben in death were his parents, brother Alex Schreiner and sister Esther Acerino.
