Billings Gazette Billings, MT 31 Dec 2006 ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Mona Lynn Kurtz, 53 of Anchorage, formerly of Columbus, Mont., passed away on Dec. 27, 2006. Lynn was born on Sept. 29, 1953, to Wayne and Elizabeth Hepler. She grew up in West Newton, Pa., graduating from high school there. Lynn went on to Edmond Burl College and obtained her bachelor's degree in music education. She taught music for more than 15 years in Flaxville, Mont., and also Gardiner, Mont. On Aug. 2, 1980, Lynn married Blaine Kurtz. Together they had two children, Sharley and Josh. Lynn and Blaine moved to Columbus in 1996. She went to work at the Stillwater Hospital as an activities director. She loved working with the residents and sharing her love for music with them. In 2005, they moved to Alaska where she worked as a receptionist at VCA Animal Hospital. Alaska was a great place for fishing, which she enjoyed. She and Blaine took trips salmon fishing and whale watching. Lynn is survived by her husband, Blaine of Anchorage; children, Sharley of Grand Forks, N.D., and Josh (Becky) of Dillon, Mont.; sisters, Janet (Joe) Chiarodo and Naomi Hepler; brother, Kenneth (Judith) Hepler; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at St. James Lutheran Church in Columbus. Inurnment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery. Memorials in Lynn's name may be given to the Columbus School Music Program. Michelotti-Sawyers is in charge of arrangements
