She was born Jan. 18, 1917, on the family farm in Ellis County to Peter and Catherine (Unrein) Pfeifer. She married Didcaus "Dick" Kreutzer on Jan. 23, 1945, in Hays. He died Dec. 5, 1972. She was a homemaker and a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, VFW Auxiliary and the Altar Society Christian Mothers, all of Hays. Survivors include three sons, Robert J. Kreutzer, Richard D. Kreutzer and wife, Loretta, and Peter A. Kreutzer, all of Hays; two daughters, Mary C. Lang and husband, Robert, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Gloria A. Aust and husband, Stephen, Hays; two brothers, Robert J. Pfeifer and Peter V. Pfeifer, both of Hays; four sisters, Florence Kuhn and Martina Kreutzer, both of Hays, Alfreda Schmeidler, WaKeeney, and Venita Collier, Lakewood, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; 11 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilfred J. Pfeifer, and a sister, Regina Arnhold. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. There will be an Altar Society Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m., a VFW Auxiliary service at 5:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m., all Sunday at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. She was born March 2, 1911, in Spearville to John Peter and Rose (Schaffer) Legleiter. She married Leo P. Kreutzer on May 20, 1930, in Liebenthal. He preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1996. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Victor Kreutzer and wife, Theresa, Larned, and Perry D. Kreutzer, La Crosse; a daughter, Margie L. Rohr and husband, Floyd, Hays; two sisters, Sally Carey, Topeka, and Josephine Stecklein, Hutchinson; a sister-in-law, Alice Legleiter, Augusta; a grandson, Ronald Kreutzer and wife, Karen,; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda Spiess and Ryan Kreutzer. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Peter and Rose (Schaffer) Legleiter; six brothers, Jacob Legleiter, Paul Legleiter, Vincent Legleiter, Mike A. Hutch News January 17, 1993 Alfons 'ALF' Kreutzer SCOTT CITY - Alfons "Alf" Kreutzer, 85, died Jan. 16, 1998, at Scott County Hospital, Scott City. He was born Aug. 19, 1907, at Liebenthal, the son of John Andrew and Amelia Herrman Kreutzer. A resident of Scott City since 1975, he was a retired farmer and an assistant mail carrier. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both at Scott City. On June 15, 1981, he married Martha Ellen Gerstberger at Marienthal. She died Sept. 26, 1971.On Nov. 10, 1975, he married Opal Eisenhour at Miami, Okla. She survives. Other survivors include: four sons, Don, Scott City, Robert, Shawnee Mission, William, San Francisco and Randall, Wichita; three daughters, Evelyn Kuhlman, Dodge City, Marcele Can, Garden City, and Judy Renner, Boulder, Cob.; two brothers, Jerome, Yuma, Ariz., and B.G., Leoti; three sisters, Anne Kreutzer, Park, Mary Bauck, Leoti, and Lydia Schoenberger, WaKeeney; 25 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Vigil prayer service will be at 730 p.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marienthal. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marienthal, with the Revs. Christopher Renner and David Dougherty presiding.
