    3. Billings Gazette Billings, MT 31 Dec 2006 Emanuel Fox, 88 years, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at the Billings Clinic due to complications of a stroke. He was surrounded by family during his illness and especially at the time of his passing, denoting his strong family values. He was born in Finch, Mont., on Oct. 11, 1918, the youngest child of Conrad and Eva Fox. Emanuel was raised on the family farming operation located on South Billings Blvd., at the site of the current City of Billings municipal facility. Emanuel married the love of his life, Clara Fickle of Laurel on Dec. 3, 1939. They established their homes in Billings during their 67 year marriage. He was employed by the Midland Empire Packing Company for 40 years, most of them as an operational supervisor. Emanuel retired from the meat packing plant in 1980. He never stopped working at perfecting his fishing, camping, grilling, neighborhood liaison skills and personal relationships. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his loyal neighbors and his countless friends which fully enriched his golden years. Emanuel was the sole surviving member of the original Fox family. His son, Donald passed away in 1988. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clara; daughter, Sheryl (Bill) Duke and his grandchildren, Michele (Alan) Hall, J.R. (Michele) Fox, Brian (Kara) Duke and Kristin Duke all residing in Billings along with his six great-grandchildren, Levi, Bailey, Jase, Jack, Jake, and Morgan. Emanuel was a life-long member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church where he was baptized, confirmed, married and now is celebrating his final rites there. He was devoted to his Church, serving on numerous boards and many committees over the years. Visitation will begin Tuesday afternoon at the Smith Downtown Chapel, 925 S. 27th St. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 S. 36th St., with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Smith Downtown Chapel is entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Donald Fox Memorial Fund at MSU-B or the Pilgrim Church.
