He had several children including a set of twins Katherina and Christina. One of whom died at the age of 4. He and his wife latter had another daughter and re-used the name. They were a rather large family. Karl was born in Russia and his father died when he was a boy, he was primarily raised by his grandparents and his mother later married one of his father's brothers.
