Casper Star Tribune Casper, WY 2 Feb 2007 Ronald 'Ron' Geisick Friday, February 02, 2007 TORRINGTON -- Funeral services for Ronald "Ron" Geisick, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2007 at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Lee officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. He died at Emerald Court in Scottsbluff, Neb., on Jan. 31, 2007. He was born Oct. 12, 1919 in Pierce, Colo., the son of Jacob and Barbara Marie (Sitzman) Geisick. He started school in Lingle and later graduated from Torrington High School in 1940.While attending Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln he was called to active duty in the U.S. Army. He served in the South Pacific for 4-1/2 years and was discharged in November of 1945. He married Frances Gates on April 14, 1946 in Torrington. In 1948, he rejoined the National Guard and started working at Camp Guernsey where he was superintendent of buildings and grounds for 34 years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir for 50 years. He also sang solos in church and at weddings and funerals. He served as church elder and on various committees. He was a past Post and District Commander of the American Legion, a member of the VFW, a member of the Last Squad Club, and was a Cub Scout representative for many years. He sang in Community Choir and served on the Hospital Foundation Board. He was the originator and chairman for the Veteran's Memorial at the Goshen County Court House. He was a good family man, with his wife, daughters, and seven grandchildren being very special to him. Survivors include his wife of Torrington; three daughters and their husbands, Linda Mai of Gering, Neb., Cony Brienza of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, and Nancy Roth of Henderson, Nev.; one brother, Bill Geisick of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Marie Deines of Ft. Collins, Colo.; four grandsons and three granddaughters and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jake and Herman; and three sisters, Pauline, Bertha, and Rachael. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church's Perpetual Trust Fund would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home.
