Casper Star Tribune Casper, WY Lena Schmierer Saturday, February 03, 2007 SHERIDAN -- Funeral services for Lena Schmierer, 81, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Boyles officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Viewing is Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., at the funeral home. She died Jan. 31, 2007, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. She was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Napoleon, N.D., to John and Mathilda (Pfeifle) Lachenmaier. The family moved to Montana when she was a young girl and she grew up near Hardin, Mont. She married Edwin Schmierer on April 9, 1947, in Hardin, Mont. They moved to Sheridan where she worked at Tudor Cleaners until going to work at Memorial Hospital. She retired from the hospital in 1991. In 1974, she completed her GED and was very proud to have accomplished that. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and enjoyed puzzles, band concerts and being with friends and family. Survivors include her son, Rick Schmierer of Sheridan; brother, Aaron Lachenmaier of Miles City, Mont.; sisters, Irene Deines of Billings, Mont., Martha Caton of Yakima, Wash., and Betty Fraser of Salem, Ore., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003 and two brothers, Ray and Ervin. Memorials may benefit First Assembly of God Church, 1045 Lewis St., Sheridan. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
