Regarding Kenny's comment about letters of intention on Ancestry.com - I'm relatively new to genealogy research, but as far as I know there is no comprehensive index of declarations of intention on Ancestry.com or anywhere else. There are a few naturalization indexes on Ancestry.com, for a few specific geographic areas. I'd be thrilled if someone would post back and tell me that I am wrong about this, because it's a real pain to search around and hope that you get lucky and find your ancestor's naturalization papers in an obscure index somewhere.
