The Fort Collins, Colorado coloradoan -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Article published Jan 11, 2007 Atha Franklin Atha Franklin, 88, of Greeley, was born in Morris, Okla., on April 29, 1918, to E.H. Stonemets and Mide (Garrett) Stonemets. She married Richard Franklin on Dec. 23, 1939. Atha was an accountant for Updyke Agency for many years. She was a founding member of Christ Christian Church in Greeley. She previously was involved in First Christian Church Fellowship, where she held offices of leadership. She sponsored youth groups and taught Sunday School. She died Jan. 7 in Greeley at North Colorado Medical Center Hospice and Palliative care unit. Survivors are two daughters, Sharon Scoubes and husband Ralph of Redding, Calif., and Karen Gerken and husband Joe of Henderson, Nev.; a son, Ron Franklin and wife Cecilia of Lakewood; one sister, Orpha Buxton of Fort Collins; and five grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, F.L. Stonemets; sisters, Wanda Winke and Opal Buckner. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Stoddard Funeral Home with visitation from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Stoddard Funeral Home. There will be a private family interment at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins.
