    3. Scottsbluff Star Hearld Scottsbluff, NE 11 Jan 2007 EVANS, Colo. - Lester Leon Hofmann, 86, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at Centennial Healthcare Center in Greeley, Colo. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday Jan. 11, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Greeley. Inurnment of cremains will be in the Sutton, Neb. cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Foundation, 1800 21st Avenue, Greeley, CO 80631 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado inpatient unit, 2726 West 11th St. Road, Greeley, CO 80634 Lester was born July 14, 1920, near Henderson, Neb. to Leon and Olinda (Gemar) Hofmann. He married Lenora Griess Jan. 18, 1948, near Stockham, Neb. In 1949 they moved to Scottsbluff, before moving to Evans, Colo. in 1990. While in Scottsbluff, Lester was a car and truck mechanic along with his brother-in-law at Hofmann Service. He later was employed by West Nebraska Express and Coop Car Center. After retiring, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and camping in their R.V. They spent many winters in Yuma, Ariz. where they had many friends from across the country and Canada. Lester served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II from July 1942 to December 1945 in the European Theatre. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #7680 at Scottsbluff and also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #0018 of Greeley. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church Survivors include his wife, Lenora of Greeley; daughter Judith and son-in-law Bob Burchfield of Denver; son Thomas and daughter-in-law Shelley Hofmann of Escondido, Calif.; granddaughters, Jennifer and husband Tom Tyler, Meghan and Lara Burchfield; grandsons Kevin Hofmann, and Joshua Burchfield; sister, Elaine and brother-in-law Rudy Gibson of Paradise, Calif.; and brother, Donald of Hastings, Neb. Preceding him in death were his parents.
