Scottsbluff Star Hearld Scottsbluff, NE 13 Jan 2007 Leah Meininger, 85, of Scottsbluff, died Friday Jan. 12, 2007, at the Regional West Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Garry Schick officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Friends who wish may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and at the funeral. Memorials have been established to the family or to the Monument Valley Iris Society. Leah was born Oct. 20, 1921, at Melbeta to Carl and Anna (Graeb) Hopp. She married Leo Meininger Feb. 4, 1940, in Lyman. They farmed in the Lyman area until 1960 when they moved to Scottsbluff. She worked at Woolworth's and later Montgomery Ward. Leah was very active in the church at Lyman when she lived there, and was a member of the Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff. She was involved in the foster grandparent program at the elementary schools in Gering and Scottsbluff. She loved gardening, and growing iris and roses. Leah enjoyed painting, playing her organ, knitting, feeding birds, was a fabulous cook, was an avid Cornhusker football and volleyball fan, and loved the Denver Broncos. Survivors include her sons, LeRoy "Butch" Meininger of Mitchell, and Larry Meininger of Scottsbluff; daughter, Linda Meininger of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Tiffany Meininger of Scottsbluff, Beau Meininger of Dallas, Texas, and Scott Meininger and Kobie Bradley both of Lincoln; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Meininger of Scottsbluff; brother, Albert Hopp of Torrington; sisters, Elsie Schwartzkopf of Butler, Mo., Viola Schreiner of Mitchell, Alma Bower of Worland, Wyo., Lucille Hopp of Inavale, Neb., and Virginia Harimon of Scottsbluff. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant sister and two brothers
