Oshkosh Northwestern - Helen L. Behnke Helen L. Behnke, age 91, of Oshkosh, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Park View Health Center-Pleasant Acres. On September 14, 1915 she was born in Hoffa Park, WI, the daughter of Walter and Bernice (Zemlewcz) Sawicki. Helen worked at Oshkosh Trunk and Luggage, Paine Lumber and in the kitchen of Park View Health Center. On April 14, 1934 she was married to William Behnke in Oshkosh. He passed away on July 23, 1972. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Helen enjoyed doing needlework, reading and flower gardening. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter: Nancy (Thomas) Wertz, of Colorado City, CO; her son: Paul (Susan) Behnke of Oshkosh; her grandchildren: Marguerite (Gary) Yowell of Hugo, CO, Thomas Wertz II of Pierce, CO, Adrienne (Joseph) Bidula of Scottsdale, AZ, Billi Jo Behnke and P. Nicholas (Jennifer) Behnke both of Oshkosh; her great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Grant, Rachel, Dalton, Brett and one on the way; and her sister: Agnes (Richard) Downs of Oshkosh. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, six brothers, an infant sister and an infant brother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Reynebeau as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m., to 12:00 noon on Tuesday at the church.
